Author Bio

My name is Jessica Heckathorn. I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. I left right after high school to follow my older sister to Colorado Springs. I spent a few years quasi settled before bouncing around a little between Kansas City and the suburbs of Detroit, then I started at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. I earned a BA in English, concentration Creative Writing. After graduation I went to work for SQL Server Magazine in Loveland, CO. After a few years there, my wanderlust kicked in again and I moved to New York City. I was there for five years before moving back to the mountains. Currently, I am back in Colorado Springs.

When I was younger I dreamed of chasing wolves through the woods for a living. When I entered Colorado State I was a Wildlife Biology major with a Zoology minor. I switched to English after my first year when I was facing a semester of Organic Chemistry. Writing papers and reading books seemed like a far more attractive option. I also spent two semesters at community college in Kansas City as a music major.

Influences on my work include Frank Lloyd Wright, architecture, New York City, Joseph Campbell, mythology, literature, art, Van Gogh, Monet, photography, film, television, music, Beethoven, eastern and western philosophy, Judaism, Kabbalah, science fiction, fantasy, etc. etc. etc.
